Being part of I Can Move More has had a profound impact on Mick’s life – not only physically, but mentally and socially as well. When he first joined, he was unsure of what to expect, but looking back, he can honestly say that the I Can Therapy Centre service has helped him grow in numerous ways.
Empowerment
Mick has become more confident in his health and overall wellbeing. The service has encouraged him to get moving, with the exercise boosting his confidence significantly. He feels stronger, his stamina has improved, and his mental outlook is noticeably better than before.
Excellence
After six months, Mick attended his routine review and was genuinely surprised by the progress he had made. He had expected his condition to stay the same – or possibly decline – but instead, he noticed clear, measurable improvements. One of the first changes he recognised was during the Functional Fitness Assessment, particularly the Back Scratch, where he was now able to bring his hands much closer together, significantly reducing the gap. Mick also realised that he was maintaining his muscle strength and, thanks to the circuit, felt he was now engaging more muscle groups than he had previously.
Perhaps most significantly, Mick was able to revisit two machines – the Ab Pullover and Tummy Crunch – which he had been advised not to use when he first started. During his review, he asked whether he could try them again, and this time he was able to complete both comfortably. Being able to add these machines back into his circuit gave Mick a real sense of achievement and progression. It felt like a step up, reinforcing how far he had come and helping him truly appreciate the positive impact the Therapy Centre was having on his strength, confidence, and overall wellbeing.
Community
If Mick had to describe I Can in one word, it would be connected. Through attending the service, he has formed genuine friendships – people who make him laugh, lift his spirits, and make each session something he looks forward to. For Mick, it is no longer just about exercise; it is about the camaraderie, the banter, and the shared laughter with both fellow customers and staff.
Being part of this caring community has had a positive impact on Mick’s overall wellbeing. He is more active, smiles more often, and feels mentally lighter. His experience demonstrates just how much being surrounded by positive, encouraging people can benefit both body and mind.
Inspiration
When asked whether someone should join the I Can Therapy Centre, Mick would respond without hesitation: it is definitely worth doing. He encourages others not to worry about what people might think, as support is provided every step of the way, and the benefits quickly become clear – both physically and mentally.
What keeps Mick motivated to stay active is simple: he doesn’t want to sit around and stagnate. Attending the centre gets him out of the house, keeps him moving, and brings plenty of laughter – all of which, in his view, are essential to enjoying life to the fullest.
Mick’s experience shows just how much I Can supports physical health, mental wellbeing and social connection. For anyone looking to get moving, build confidence and be part of a welcoming, encouraging community, joining the I Can Therapy Centre could be the first step toward a positive, lasting change.
